To be eligible for the Capital on Tap Business Credit Card, you and your business must meet specific criteria. This article outlines the requirements and answers common questions about the application process for your Credit account. Applying for the Capital on Tap Instant Savings account, powered by ClearBank, has separate criteria.
Am I eligible for a Capital on Tap Business Credit Card?
You are eligible to apply for the Capital on Tap Business Credit Card if you and your business meet the following criteria:

You are an active director or a majority shareholder (25%+) of the company, and reside in the UK.

Your business is a private limited company (Ltd), a limited liability partnership (LLP), or a public limited company (PLC), registered in the UK.

You and your business have no unsatisfied County Court Judgements (CCJs) in the last 12 months.

Your business is listed as active on Companies House. There's no minimum trading history required, so businesses of any age can apply.

Your business is not in a high-risk industry.

What is a high-risk industry?
Capital on Tap can't lend to businesses in certain industries, based on regulatory requirements and risk considerations that apply to all regulated lenders. Examples include:

Gambling and betting operators

Arms, defence, and military manufacturers and distributors

Non-profits, charities, and political or religious organisations

Financial services businesses, including banks, building societies, and payday lenders

Certain real estate businesses, including non-licensed estate agents and those selling or letting overseas property

Cryptocurrency and digital asset businesses, including unregistered Virtual Asset Service Providers and coin mining operators

Can I apply if I'm a charity or a non-profit organisation?
Currently, Capital on Tap cannot accept applications from charities, non-profit organisations, trusts, funds, or Royal Charters.
Will an application impact my credit file?
Applying for the Capital on Tap Business Credit Card will not affect your personal credit score. We'll run a soft search on your personal credit file when you apply, which only you can see. A hard search on your business's credit file only happens once you sign your credit agreement.
