Managing Subscriptions

Learn how to manage recurring subscription payments on your Capital on Tap Business Credit Card, including what happens if your card changes.

Overview

Subscriptions are recurring payments made from your Capital on Tap Business Credit Card to a merchant or provider, such as a software subscription, utility bill, or digital advertising service. This article explains how to view your active subscriptions, cancel one, and manage them if your card is cancelled or replaced.

What is a subscription?

A subscription is a recurring payment you have authorised with a merchant using your card. The merchant automatically charges these payments to your card at regular intervals.

Subscriptions are different from automatic repayments, which are Direct Debit payments used to repay your Credit account balance. See 'Managing Automatic Repayments' for more information.

How do I view my active subscriptions?

To view recurring payments linked to your card:

  1. Log in to the app or web portal.

  2. Navigate to the 'Transactions' page.

  3. Look for recurring charges from the same merchant.

We don't maintain a central list of your subscriptions. To see all active subscriptions, review your transaction history or check directly with each merchant.

How do I cancel a subscription?

To cancel a subscription, contact the merchant directly. We cannot cancel subscriptions on your behalf. The payment agreement is between you and the merchant.

What if I am charged for a subscription I already cancelled?

If a merchant charges your card after you cancelled a subscription:

  1. Contact the merchant directly to request a refund and confirm the cancellation.

  2. If the merchant does not resolve the issue, contact our Customer Service team on 020 8962 7401 to raise a dispute.

Keep any cancellation confirmation emails or screenshots as evidence when raising a dispute.

Can I block a merchant from charging my card?

To prevent a merchant from charging your card, contact them to cancel the subscription first. If they continue to charge your card after cancellation, contact our Customer Service team on 020 8962 7401 to raise a dispute.

What happens to my subscriptions if my card is cancelled or replaced?

If your card is cancelled or replaced, your card number changes to protect your security. Recurring payments and subscriptions, including 'Continuous Payment Authorities,' will generally stop working until you update your payment details with each provider. This includes services such as utility bills, software subscriptions (for example, AWS or Microsoft 365), and digital advertising platforms (for example, Google or Meta Ads).

Once you receive your new card details:

  1. Log in to the service provider's website.

  2. Update the card number, expiry date, and CVV.

  3. Check for any 'failed payment' notifications to ensure no loss of service.
