Receipt Chasers

Learn how the Receipt Chaser feature of the Capital on Tap Business Credit Card works, how to turn it on, and what to do if a receipt goes missing.

Overview

Receipt Chaser sends automated reminders to cardholders when a transaction is missing a receipt. Once enabled, the system tracks missing receipts and sends reminders at a frequency you choose.

Receipt Chaser is available to all Capital on Tap customers. The main account holder, Admins, and Accounts users can enable and manage the feature.

How do I turn on Receipt Chasers?

To enable Receipt Chaser in the Capital on Tap mobile app:

  1. Go to your ‘Settings’ by clicking on your business name in the top left corner.

  2. Select ‘Communication settings’.

  3. Select ‘Receipt reminders’ at the bottom of the screen.

  4. Toggle feature on.

To enable Receipt Chaser in the web portal:

  1. Go to 'Your account'.

  2. Select 'Notification Settings'.

  3. Select 'Receipt reminder'.

  4. Toggle the feature on.

Receipt Chaser only tracks transactions from the date the feature is enabled. Receipts uploaded before that date will not be chased.

How do Receipt Chasers work?

Once enabled, Receipt Chaser looks back over a rolling 30-day window and chases every missing receipt within that window, based on the reminder settings you've chosen.

  • The 30-day window moves forward every day. If a receipt was needed 27 days ago, it's still chased; once a transaction passes the 30-day mark, it drops out of scope automatically.

  • On day 28, a summary report is sent covering all chasing activity for that period.

Can I customise receipt reminders?

Yes, you can personalise your reminders using the following options:

  • Minimum threshold: Set the minimum transaction value that triggers a reminder. This can be any amount from £0.01 upwards. Transactions at or above your chosen threshold will be chased.

  • Frequency: Choose to receive reminders ‘Every weekday’, ‘Every Monday’, or ‘Every 2 weeks on Monday’.

What does the receipt summary report include?

The summary report shows the status of every transaction tracked during the 30-day cycle:

  • Receipts received: The receipt has been successfully uploaded and matched.

  • Receipts missing: The receipt is currently being chased.

  • Receipts marked as lost: The transaction's receipt is unavailable.

How can I find transactions without a receipt attached?

The 'Transactions' page includes a filter to view transactions by receipt status. This lets you check chasing progress at any time.

How do I add a receipt to a transaction?

You can add up to 4 receipts to a transaction. Go to the 'Transactions' tab in your Capital on Tap portal, select the transaction, and add your images.

What should I do if I can't find a receipt?

You can mark it as lost on the individual transaction page by following these steps:

  1. Open the transaction in the app or web portal.

  2. Scroll to the bottom of the transaction details page.

  3. Select 'Mark as lost' and provide a reason.

Marking a receipt as lost immediately stops all automated reminders for that transaction. The transaction will still appear in the summary report.

If the receipt is later found, upload it to the transaction. This removes the lost status and stops any further reminders automatically.

Why am I not receiving receipt reminders?

If Receipt Chaser is enabled but reminders are not arriving, check the following:

  • Confirm the 'Receipt reminder' toggle is enabled under 'Notification Settings'.

  • Confirm the transaction value is above the minimum threshold you have set.

  • Ensure push notifications for Capital on Tap are enabled in your device settings.

  • Ensure you are using the latest version of the Capital on Tap app.

  • Receipt Chaser only applies to transactions added after the feature was enabled.

Can I set reminders to send on a day other than Monday?

Not currently. The ability to choose a different day will be available in a future update if you select daily reminders.
