The Best UK and Global Airport Lounges for Business Travel Revealed in New Study

A Business Woman Sitting In An Armchair In An Airport Lounge, With Her Suitcase Nearby, Sipping From A Mug, As People Move Around In The Background

In a world increasingly filled with AI, human connection is valued more than ever, which is perhaps one reason why business travel continues to grow. In fact, total business travel spend is on track to exceed US$2 trillion by 2029.

But frequent corporate travel can be exhausting, with professionals constantly juggling tight deadlines, virtual meetings and long airport layovers. Airport lounges, once thought of as a luxury, have now become vital facilities for focused remote work, as well as downtime between meetings and flights.

Yet the quality of airport lounges can vary drastically from one terminal to another. With the Capital on Tap Pro Business Credit Card offering unlimited access to over 1,800 Priority Pass lounges worldwide, the team set out to discover which facilities stand out across the UK and globally.

The team here at Capital on Tap have analysed 74 airport lounges across a series of metrics, including the number of amenities available, how many hours they are open each week, and whether they have no dress code. This was combined with their Priority Pass Member rating, weighted more heavily to recognise the importance of client satisfaction.

Escape Lounges at Edinburgh Airport takes first place in the UK with longest opening hours

Edinburgh Airport’s Escape Lounges earned the highest overall score in our data set across UK airports (7.92).  But the lounge scores first place for having the longest UK opening hours. In a global economy where business never sleeps, this lounge almost doesn’t either, opening from 4am to 10pm every day.

With a Priority Pass Member rating of 4.4, clients praise the ample tables, charging points and comfy seating in a bright and fresh modern space. A smart casual dress code is expected, with clients specifically advised that no football shirts or fancy dress is allowed.

Aspire Lounge in Belfast comes second with customer rating of 4.5

George Best Belfast City Airport’s Aspire Lounge comes in second, with the joint highest Priority Pass Member rating of 4.5 from more than 2,000 reviews.

With the advantage of being a city centre airport, lounge guests can enjoy breathtaking views of the runway and iconic Belfast skyline. Soundproof booths and purpose-built workspaces make it an ideal place to get some focused work in before your flight.

Although opening for fewer hours overall, the lounge makes sure to open from 5am, before those early morning business flights, and closes between 7 and 9pm throughout the week. But with the airfield only operational until 9.30pm the early finish makes sense.

The Lomond Lounge in Glasgow ranks in third place

The second Scottish lounge to rank in the top three, the Lomond Lounge is also the first to not have a smart-casual dress code, meaning travellers who aren’t rushing to or from meetings can travel in the clothes they feel most comfortable in.

The lounge doesn’t allow children, meaning you can expect a slightly more relaxed atmosphere with premium food and drink on offer, all whilst enjoying runway views.

Expert tips on maximising perks safely

Business travel perks like premium airport lounge access can help make regular corporate travel more comfortable and appealing, but it’s important to follow some simple rules to ensure you don’t find yourself on the wrong side of HMRC.

Alex Miles, Chief Operating Officer at Capital on Tap, has shared his top tips for maximising business travel perks safely.

1. Keep business expenses strictly separate from private purchases

The most important rule is to only claim tax deductions on genuine business expenses. The easiest way to do this is by using a dedicated business credit card for company costs only.

Be cautious of where the lines may get crossed. For example, while the Capital on Tap Pro Business Credit Card allows unlimited access to Priority Pass’s global lounge network regardless of the purpose of travel, any additional costs incurred in the lounge should only be put on the card for legitimate business trips.

If a trip is for both business and personal reasons, you can only claim for business expenses, which requires careful apportionment. All non-business travel is counted as private. This includes the journey between an employee’s home and permanent workplace, GOV.UK guidance stipulates.

2. Maintain accurate and compliant records

While a company card makes it easy to track which costs were business-related, a credit card statement is not HMRC compliant. Tax receipts or invoices must be retained for every expense.

It is also wise to connect your card to your accounting software. This allows you to categorise expenses instantly and keep your books up-to-date with minimal effort.

3. Know which perks are taxable

Cashback, like the 1% offered on all purchases with the Capital on Tap Pro Business Credit Card, is generally regarded as a discount on expenditure rather than taxable income. As a result, it may affect the amount of expense that can be recognised for tax purposes.

Where rewards are provided independently of spending activity, such as certain referral or sign-up bonuses, HMRC may treat the payment differently and it could be considered taxable income, depending on the circumstances. It’s important to seek advice from a qualified professional for specific guidance.

Sources and methodology

To identify, evaluate, and rank the best airport lounges globally for busy business professionals, Capital on Tap analysed 74 Priority Pass airport lounges across the world, including 18 in the UK.

An overall airport lounge score out of 10 was calculated using all available metrics.  Priority Pass Member review scores were weighted more heavily than other factors to reflect the importance of customer satisfaction in the final rankings.

All data points were taken from prioritypass.com including:

  • Priority Pass Member star rating out of 5 – the higher the better.

  • The total number of operational hours per week (e.g. a lounge open 24 hours gets a 168). Higher operational hours equal a higher score.

  • Number of listed amenities – the higher the better.

  • Whether a dress code is mandated. A lower score is recorded if a dress code is required.

Data was collected in June 2026.

Please note countries directly involved in conflict during this time, including Dubai, Israel and Iran, were not included in our seedlist.
